Series Outline & Objective
The PA Sprint Series is an organizational entity of racers established and committed to fun fair and safe racing. The series was established in1998 by a core group of racers from Hesston and Path Valley Speedways who chose to adopt theRacesaver® sprint racing standards established by French Grimes and the Virginia Sprint Series.
The series is not a club; Racing is by invitation and is managed by a committee of original founding members. The committee ensures that the original concept is followed and adapts as necessary to maintain that vision. Each competitor must understand that change is the greatest threat to maintaining the cost savings and competitive nature of the series. Occasionally teams are polled for their opinions on issues but ultimately committee decisions are final.
Committee members are volunteers and manage competition rules, promotion and schedule only, they are required to attend at least 1/3 of scheduled races and be available to help with rules enforcement etc. Committee members only change as needed for additional help and are appointed by the Committee.
Any team that is interested in competing with the series may submit a registration to compete. Registrations to compete are reviewed by the committee and registrants are interviewed to assess their interest in the series and knowledge of the rules. Invitations to compete are issued by the committee to teams most committed to the concept in a manner that manages the growth of the series. This invitation can be revoked at any time by the committee temporarily or permanently. The series is intended for those that may not afford to race in other divisions therefore new teams are required to be exclusive with the series with few exceptions. Exceptions will be posted on the team section of the web site. Any personnel changes to teams must be approved by the committee.
The Racesaver® standard was adopted with the intention of providing affordable racing for participants without high cost of ownership or maintenance. All aspects of racing are considered in an effort to control costs in a competitive environment. The series is committed to a purse structure which allows for all teams to be reimbursed fairly for competition while not paying significantly more to any position.
The PA Sprint series and Racesaver® represents “recreational racing” which commands respect for each competitor and their equipment. The series will not tolerate anyaggressive driving. The willingness to give racing room is a defining aspect of pa sprint series races. The combination of fair rules and affordable racing gives every team an equal opportunity to win on any given night.
Recreational racing also means that teams should not feel required to race. Teams are invited to race without concern for missing important family events etc. Tracks are informed that the series wishes to schedule approximately 33 races per year with the goal to have at least one race per week with considerations for size, location and expected car counts. Path Valley & Port Royal speedway are given preference on schedule whenever possible for their ongoing support of the series.
Speedways that schedule races with the series have agreed to host the series with the understanding that they will be handicapping and paying competitors. The competition committee is responsible for enforcing the rules listed here and speedways have agreed to stand by any disqualifications and/or suspensions/penalties the competition committee assesses. Competitors must comply with any rules specifically implied by the speedways such as age limits or conduct on or off the track and specific safety requirements. Please contact the individual speedway for clarification of these issues. If you are unsure who to contact with a specific question see a member of the committee.
New teams considering the series should first register on the web for a status of current registration and a review of our objective to be sure that they understand the entire process. If the Committee extends an invitation to a team after interviewing team members they will receive an invitation in writing signed by at least 2 committee members. Do not purchase any equipment without completing this entire process. All teams will be required to complete a release of liability prior to every season.

HOST TRACK GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES APPLY.
HANDICAPPING
Starting positions are established by a pill draw which is forwarded to the handicapper at the track. The track will prepare the lineup from the pill draw and also establishes the inversion for the feature based on their normal practice. The track also establishes the itinerary for the event based on the particular agreement signed by the track. Tracks are informed that full purse is always paid regardless of attendance but the series cannot guarantee payment. Some tracks negotiate alternate purses; we make every attempt to make agreements available to teams via our web site.

Teams on the active roster are invited to attend any race. The active roster is maintained and updated regularly on the web site www.pasprintseries.com. If you are unable to view the web or have any questions you MUST contact a committee member prior to attending any race. All active teams draw for starting position with the following exceptions.

  • Teams that are permitted and race outside in another series are handicapped to the rear of their heat.
  • Teams from other regions that are invited (with permission) start at the rear of the heat.
  • Rookies will start at rear of qualifying events and features for a minimum of 3 races or until competition committee feels they are ready to start up front. If you did not compete with the series in the previous year you are subject to Rookie consideration. Path Valley has their own 3 race requirement for rookies
  • Committee members may handicap teams as necessary on a given night. Decisions are final. Call prior to attending if you have questions.
